Netflix Suggestion of the Week: Gone Girl

0

The movie Gone Girl is a strange one to suggest because it is a mixture of good and bad reviews. It is an adaptation of a book by Gillian Flynn that follows a simple plot about a husband, Nick Dunne (Ben Affleck), who comes home and finds his wife, Amy Dunne (Rosamund Pike), missing. At the start, the plot seems boring and dull but as the movie progresses the plot becomes more complex and new variables are introduced into the story.

Gone Girl is one of those movies that attracts a lot of criticism and a lot of praise. It is a difficult movie to rate and review: the movie had some really good performances and some bad, unconvincing characters; the story itself is interesting but there were plot holes that made the movie inconsistent and unrealistic. At times, the movie lacked fluidity, but putting that aside, it was an entertaining 2h 30 minutes.

According to a lot of reviews, it is a movie with a lot of potential that is unrealized. On the other side, the movie has an IMDB rating of 8.1 which is impressive. Personally, I think the rating is too high but at the same time, the movie is not as bad as the internet reviews make it out to be. I would suggest for you to watch it at least once and decide for yourself.

Overall, the movie is entertaining and should be given a try. There are some aspects of a movie that are not perfect and if you don’t expect the movie to be a deep, thought-provoking masterpiece – you’ll enjoy it.
