February’s Illustration Competition Winner is Alex Jenkin with his Star Wars Illustration. Here’s what he had to say:

“Hi, my name’s Alex, and, as you may have guessed, I study Graphics and Illustration. I’m in the first year of the course, though I did a foundation last year. Did fresher’s twice. Score.

I’m pretty happy to have won the portrait competition – it’s a sort of confidence booster, reminding me that I’m not completely throwing my life away in pursuit of a future devoid of meaning! Comics are what drive my ambition, and I intend to work in the comics industry later in life, assuming I haven’t drank myself into an early grave. I chose to draw Harrison Ford as Han solo because, why not? It’s Harrison Ford. That’s all the reason I need. The Force Awakens was probably still bouncing around my head at that time as well, so I guess that influenced it as well. Drawing it basically meant no other coursework was completed for a week. That’s on you Label. I hope you’re happy with what you’ve done. You monsters.

Seriously though, thanks to everyone that voted for me, and respect to Angel Chiu for her cute illustration of everyone’s favourite bickering droids!”

Congratulations to Alex, we look forward to seeing more of his work and of course entries from other students too! Head over to the Label Facebook page for details on current competitions and to view entries.

(Winners are chosen according to the amount of ‘likes’ their work gets over on our Facebook page.)
