Calling all writers and artists, Lamplight Press has officially opened its submissions box! Based at Loughborough University, Lamplight Press are in the midst of not only launching their band new website early next year, but getting students involved with creating a shiny new anthology that everyone will be proud of. Last year, the press published the Journeys Anthology, which was a collaborative effort between Lamplight staff, volunteers and contributors. This has now begun to flourish into an interesting and delightful series the press has decided to continue.
We wanted to publish another anthology because we had such a good time last year discovering what amazing talent Loughborough students really have to offer. It was a real treat to see what people came up with and the different ways the theme was taken, and we can’t wait to see what the next instalment could bring.
This year, the submissions theme is Diversity and, as the poster shown describes, they are looking for people to share their experiences and celebrations of diversity (including LGBT, ethnic minority, culture, faith, women etc.) in written poetry, prose or art/design form. This broad topic is sure to get the ideas flowing! Submissions are open now and also completely free to send in, with those selected being published in print before the end of second semester.
We opened our submissions closer to Christmas because people normally have a lot more time nearer the end of term to get stuck into creative projects, and will be eager to do something different and fun after deadlines and exam preparations. We can’t urge people to submit their work enough, it doesn’t matter if you’re not an experienced writer or designer either – we want to hear from you!
