Label introduce you to Loughborough’s Halls of Residence
Label have put together a hall profile/ article for every hall in Loughborough. We’ve included the basics, what size the hall is, how big their committee is and more. Elvyn Richards, named after the university’s very own second Vice Chancellor, caters to over 400 students. Both undergraduate and ERASMUS students are welcome to stay in this stylish part of the Student Village, where the accommodation is completely catered for.
With a very chilled vibe, Elvyn Richards is a recently renovated accommodation, providing a deluxe way to spend your time on campus! 2 minutes away from the local shop and takeaway, and a stone’s throw from the library and student pub, Elvyn’s location is extremely ideal for students getting to know campus. Being situated in the Student Village, this makes it a friendly, social community and is great to be a part of.
The catered facilities provide students with 10 meals from Monday to Friday. There are also kitchen areas, where you can cook smaller meals and prepare your own food at weekends and out-of-term time. This gives students the choice of having food prepared for you, or dishing up your own if you fancy it!
With around 140 returners and 260 freshers, this gives the hall a well-balanced atmosphere of those in the same boat as you, and those who have already had a taste of the uni experience! With its own committee of 17 members, there are plenty of friendly faces to get to know and opportunities to delve into.
Both Gemma Lomas – our own VP Welfare and Diversity 2015-16 – and Steffan Lloyd – VP Sport 2014-15 – have come from Elvyn, and you could well be the next person to make your hall glimmer with pride!
Coming 11th in IMS and 13th in Hall of the Year, Elvyn Richards is always getting stuck into the fun, its residents always contributing to their continued success!
Elvyn has both wired and wireless internet, bike stores, weekly cleaning services and its own very common room to hold all of its epic beer pong tournaments and all other things its residents get up to.
There is also a washing room, so you needn’t drag your dirty clothes further than a few strides from your flat! With all ensuite rooms, plenty of desk space and storage, this means you can really live with ease and make yourself at home.
The halls’ warden, Hilary McDermott will ensure safety and fun is both a priority for your hall experience, and that any help is always available to you.
