The big event has arrived: The opening day of Athletics! Day seven also sees the final day of archery judo, and the first day of trampolining at the Olympics. Rebecca Adlington competes in her prefered 800m freestyle, whilst Jessica Ennis and the men's cycling team pursuit team are bound for success on day seven.
The inspirational story of the game also highlights day seven is that of Im Dong-Hyun: A legally blind South Korean archer refuses to wear corrective lenses. Im already holds two Olympics gold medals but will strive this year to win the men's individual shoot in London.
