After a decade at the post Loughborough University’s Council Chairman Sir Bryan Carsberg has been succeeded by Sir Peter Bonfield. Bonfield has been appointed both Chair of Council and Senior Pro-Chancellor at Loughborough University.

Bonfield is a leading international business executive, holding a number of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) positions over his 45-year career in the field of computers, electronics and communications.

Bonfield holds an honours degree in Engineering from Loughborough University.

Loughborough Vice Chancellor Professor Shirley Pearce said: “I am delighted to welcome Sir Peter to the role of Chairman of Council.”

“As a Loughborough graduate, Sir Peter already knows us well and we are very fortunate to have him working with us. I am sure that under his chairmanship the University will continue to go from strength to strength.”

Bonfield said: “I am especially honoured to take up this appointment and will endeavour to build on the significant achievements of my predecessor, Sir Bryan Carsberg.”
