In another exciting event for Loughborough RAG 2011, the University will be hosting the regional Children In Need fundraiser in our very own David Wallace Sports Hall on November 18.

Kicking off at 6pm, students and members of the public are warmly welcomed to come along for the evening and raise money for some very deserving children’s charities.

Last year the event was held at East Midlands Airport, who Loughborough actually lost the bid to. They raised a fantastic £16,500, a great benchmark that Loughborough aims to exceed, with the East Midlands as a whole raising a fantastic £720,000.

This should be attainable with Loughborough’s brilliant RAG record, and students always willing to go above and beyond for charity, and Children in Need 2011 will be no different.

As part of the evening, Loughborough favourites Fever, Tuxedo swing and the Union Show Choir will be performing.  Local celebrities and entertainers are also set to join in with the fundraising activities.

RAG Chair Sarah Musgrave explained, “For BBC East Midlands to hold the annual event here at the University is…a fantastic opportunity for the community and University to come together to raise money for such a worthwhile cause!”

During the lead up to Children In Need we are going to be having BBC East Midlands Presenter Anne Davies living life as a student, with Pudsey making appearances around campus, as well as lots of other events Students will able to get involved with.

Sarah also commented that “For the university to… to finally have it back on campus is a great honour and everyone here at the Union and especially in Rag are looking forward to it.”
