The Loughborough Fireworks & Laser Show Extravaganza gets bigger and better every year, providing brilliant entertainment whilst raising money for charity. However, for those who don’t live here or who aren’t around that weekend, we’ve had a look around to see what else is going on in the East Midlands area so that you can still get your annual toffee apple fix this Guy Fawkes night.
Loughborough Fireworks & Laser Extravaganza
Loughborough University will be hosting their annual fireworks display on campus. The gates will open at 5.30pm, with a children’s display at 6.30pm. If you are new to Loughborough this year, then the show will be unlike anything you have seen before. Kicking off at 7.30pm is the very unique choreographed fireworks and laser show which is unlike anything in the local area. Tickets cost £6 for an adult, with the event being run by Loughborough Students RAG. As it is being held on campus (enter the university and head for Towers Way), it is easily within walking distance. If you would like to get involved in the event, then drop into the RAG office or ask your hall RAG rep for more information. RAG need lots of help for jobs from manning the gates to setting up and clearing away on the Sunday so there are plenty of opportunities for everyone! Nottingham Bonfire Night 2011
If you happen to be in Nottingham this Saturday then make sure you head down to the Forest Recreation Ground for amusements, fairground rides and a children’s fireworks display. Best of all, the display promises to be saturated in tradition with the ritual lighting of the bonfire and a grand fireworks display which is not to be missed if you are in the area. The grand fireworks display kicks off at 9pm, with gates opening at 5.30pm. The event is easily accessible by tram and has the added attraction of it being free entry!
Leicester Abbey Park Bonfire
With around 20,000 visitors annually attending the Abbey Park Bonfire and Fireworks Display this November 5 event is sure to be a great one. Make sure you get there early as the gates open at 5pm and the last admission is at 7.30pm. The night boasts the standard treats of food stalls, a children’s funfair, bonfire and fireworks, with the added attraction of a live entertainment stage hosted by BBC Radio Leicester DJs. The bonfire is lit at 6.45pm and the big display kicks off at 8pm, best of all, it’s a bargain at just £3.50 with your student ID card on the gate. Derby Chatsworth House Bonfire & Fireworks
For a twist of something different this Guy Fawkes Night head to Chatsworth House on November 5. It’s a little on the pricey side at £12 a ticket, but the entertainment is very unique with circus performers and the popular Panfire steel band playing until 9pm. The gates open at 6.30pm with the fireworks display starting at 8pm. For further info, call 01246565430.
Derby City Council Bonfire and Firework Display, Markeaton Park
For the big November 5 event in Derby this year, head to Markeaton Park for Derby LIVE and Capital FM’s bonfire extravaganza. There is plenty of car parking available at the University of Derby Kedleston Road Car Park for £5 per car. You can make a day of it too with the funfair kicking off at 2pm. There is plenty of stage entertainment and food available during the evening, with the fireworks starting at 6pm.
Snibston Best of British Fireworks Display
For a smaller display this year; head to Snibston Discovery Park in Coalville. The event promises full on entertainment with performances from tribute bands, and tickets costing just £6 on the gate. In keeping with the theme of the evening, the fireworks will be launched to iconic British themed music. Gates open at 5pm.
