Wilkin, a member of the MCC academy at Loughborough, played for Middlesex youth teams and made 2nd XI appearances this summer. Making his first class debut with Loughborough against Northamptonshire and was also picked for matches against Leciestershire and Kent.

Playing back with his home team, Ealing, this season he helped them to win the Middlesex County Cricket League and impressed during the Sky televised Cockspurs T20 finals day that saw Ealing book their place to Barbados.

Commenting on the signing of Wilkin Middlesex’s Managing Director of Cricket, Angus Fraser, said: “Ollie was the outstanding young cricketer in Middlesex League cricket in 2011 and impressed me in the two second eleven games he played for the club last season. Quality all-rounders are rare and Ollie’s performances with both bat and ball last summer suggest he has the potential to be such a cricketer."

Wilkin will join fellow MCC academy member Ravi Patel at the club whilst Rob Taylor has signed an extension to his contract with Leicestershire.

Taylor played in four first class games for Leicestershire during the summer, scoring 160 runs at an average of 20 with a top score of 70 and also took five wickets.
