The first inter-hall competition of the new academic year, The Sing Off, takes place tomorrow night in the union. Described as ‘a colossal vocal battle as halls compete to be the loudest on campus’ by the Student’s Union, the Sing Off is a unique event to Loughborough.

The 15 halls which have entered the competition are split into three heats of five, with two halls from each pool going through to the final.

Each hall will be required to satisfy five criteria which will be assessed by the Union Exec; the criteria being Loudness, Lyrics, Choreography, Exec Presentation and Leader’s Performance.

Reigning champions, Towers, are in the third and final heat at 8.30pm alongside Rigg Rutt, Falk Egg, Telford and 2009 champions Bill Mo. Falk Egg will be looking to make amends for their disqualification from last year’s competition.

Last year’s runners up Royce look to have the slightly tougher heat at 6.30pm as they are joined by Faraday, DC, Bobby Bakewell and Harry French.

The final heat is made up of Butler Court, Cayley, The Holt, Elvyn and Rutherford.

Label will be providing a full report on the sing off results after the event. In the meantime, you can view last year’s final here.
