Several roads around the Loughborough area have been closed following a massive fire at a plastic recycling factory that started in the early hours of Bank Holiday Monday.
Large clouds of black smoke can be seen above the scene of the incident and were drifting towards the nearby A6.
Police were advising residents to close their windows due to the toxic fumes emitting from the blaze. Other members of the public have been advised to avoid areas in close proximity.
The warehouse, which contained 200 tonnes of plastic, is situated in the industrial area in Loughborough by Weldon Road.
A spokesman for the Leicestershire fire and rescues service said the flames were under control but several crews remained at the scene.
No-one has been reported injured in the fire and an investigation is under way to determine the cause which at this stage is unclear.
Students who live in the ensuing area who are travelling back to University following the Easter break should be aware that some roads have been closed. These include Bishop Meadow Road, Belton Road West, Warwick Way, Alan Moss Road.
